ride Unterwirt Haflingers

A riding lesson at the Unterwirt takes around 1.5 hours. When you arrive at the stud, the Haflingers are already saddled up and waiting for you. Put on your helmet, sit up and off you go! During the first laps on the riding arena, the riding instructor assesses your level of ability and discusses with you what you would like to achieve in the riding lesson. He then accelerates or slows down the pace, depending on how well you and your horse harmonize. After the lesson, if you want, you can unsaddle your horse yourself, groom it and return it to the box.

Riders of all levels can take riding lessons at Unterwirt. Our Haflingers, with their balance and willingness to perform, are suitable for beginners as well as experienced professionals. However, we would like to note that you can benefit more from the trainer's know-how if you are not sitting on the horse for the very first time. The trainer and you will then design the riding lesson together, tailored to your level of ability.

As with riding lessons, we prepare the horses for rides so that when you arrive, all you have to do is put on your helmet and get on.

Depending on how much riding experience you already have, we choose the route for the ride. On the Salten, however, it is definitely off-road! On wide and narrow, flat and steep paths we then go through forests and over meadows of the Jenesier high plateau.

If you want, we can take a break at one of the many snack stations.

For a normal ride we plan 1.5 to 2.5 hours. We are also happy to offer full-day rides upon request. Then it takes 8 to 10 hours up to the “Stoananen Mandl” – an experience that you won’t soon forget! However, for such a long ride you should already have solid riding knowledge and good fitness.

For us, there is basically nothing wrong with riding as a beginner. Our mares are so calm and experienced that they can safely carry even beginners over the Salten. A healthy self-assessment should be a basic requirement when riding anyway... ;)

However, if we come to the conclusion that you are not yet up to a ride when you arrive at the riding arena, we reserve the right to give you a riding lesson before the ride.

An Unterwirt carriage ride is extremely comfortable. Get on and let's go! In just a few minutes we are on the Salten and enjoy the wonderful nature and the unique panoramic view of the South Tyrolean mountains all around. Our classic carriage tour lasts about 1.5 hours – including a short stop at Gschnoferstall.

If you have a helmet, feel free to bring your own helmet! If not, we also have a large selection of helmets in the locker room. Also important: long trousers, ankle-high shoes with little tread or riding boots, if necessary a weatherproof jacket and gloves and something to drink.

Children are welcome to take riding lessons with us. Whether the child is allowed to ride out themselves or is guided depends on their ability. For younger children we have different sized, very well-behaved ponies. From around 8 years old, the big little ones can also ride our Haflingers.
